What's on the Menu?
The new menu was created to make the restaurant more accessible to the middle class, while also making it easier to produce in an assembly line. Each version of the menu contained staples of McDonald's, such as fries, burgers, and shakes. The prices stayed in a similar price range, keeping things fast and simple. There was no room for flexibility in meals, meaning the burger ordered was always the same, with the ingredients keeping their signature flavor.

"I asked if, even then, each burger came with the same combination of pickle, mustard and catsup they served today. ``The same,`` Dick said. ``Plus the onions.`` Onions? ``They were mashed into the patty to give it more flavor. Back then, of course, we never told people that, because then they`d probably ask us to hold the onions, and it wouldn`t have worked for us." -Chicago Tribune
